Montreal Style Bagels

Yeah that's right. I'm going to teach you how to make this gourmet meal.

Here are the Ingredients, you can make a bunch with those materials.

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 Cups warm Water
  • 5 Tbsp Sugar
  • 3 Tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 1 Packet Yeast ( around 1/2 tsp )
  • 1 Egg
  • 4-1/2 Cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1 Tbsp Malt Powder
  • 1/4 Cup Honey
Plus whatever you want as a topping, just be creative ;)

The raw goods.

Put the yeast and the warm water ( around 120° F ) in a large bowl.

Add the sugar, mix it good, then let it sit for about 10  minutes until the mixture begins to bubble.

Then add the oil and the egg and whisk it all together!

Now begin to add the flour, steady one cup at a time.

Stop adding flour once the dough gets very sticky, looking something like this.

Prepare a surface area and get ready to get your hands dirty. :)

Knead for at least 10 minutes.

Then, prepare a bowl covered slightly with oil and place the big ball of dough in it. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rest in a warm place for around 10 minutes.

The Bagels begin to reveal their existence. Cut the dough in about 10-13 pieces.

Roll out each hunk of dough in a long snail.

Place the bagels on a protective non-sticky sheet ( spray with fat ).

Cover and let them sit for 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 425°F while the bagels are still rising and put a pot of water on the stove with about 1/4 cup of honey in it.

Boil the bagels for about one minute ( not longer ) per side.

They get even bigger now :) Place them on a pan lined with parchment paper. Also, add your toppings now.

Place Bagels in oven for 20 minutes.

The Results:

Cinnamon bagel.

Cheese.

Tastes just like a professional bakery product. Probably even better.

Enjoy ;)
